Ice Conditions

Just back from Ontario (family rather than fun). Has anyone with ice on the mind been by any of Gilbraltar, Victoria Park, Deep Cove, the Flintstone Quarry, or the Fundy Shore? Let's keep using this thread, as the season progresses. Dieter

The Flintstone Quarry is coming along well. As of January 1, the main flow is pretty fat, but would be better left alone for at least another week. There is open water in the cone, and the right side hasn't filled in yet (ie the cave hasn't formed. The pyramid area at the back of the quarry is also forming, and could now be climbed on the left, but rock pro or a top rope would be required. Better to wait. Soon, gentlemen.

Forget about ice, I am going sun-tanning on Sunday, instead.

But here is a better forecast, if it is cold you like:

Has anyone been out to Moose River this year? Ive been a little too busy most Sundays. I'd love to see some photos of that place this year.

Its sad to see the weather in NS is still as fickle as usual.

Peter, is the quary you were talking about Bedford Quary? If so i'd try to avoid using those cracks at the top for gear. I tried that last year and when i set the anchor the rock just spread apart further. Yeah! It's probably a lot safer to just run that part out. This is the natural flow that's on your left as you walk in. ??
