Bolted anchor on Fern Gully at Exfoliated

Postby Dom » Mon Jul 23, 2012 9:17 pm

Hey I added a bolted anchor on Fern Gully (the nice 5.8 with horizontal cracks). The tree anchor that was used for years was in the way of the DND zip-line so they chopped it. I also gave the upper half a good scrub. It was dirty.

Nice work Dom :)
Great climbing links:

If I'm posting here, I'm probably at work.

Is there still a way to set a TR on this route from above?

The very huge pine at the very top hasnt been touched. You could do a short rap/scramble (10') to the bolted anchor. You could also prob. use that tree for a TR but it wouldn't be great for your rope. Or you could lead it Dan, now that you guys have a rack

The new anchor is an inch below the cut hemlock that was used as an anchor for years. The hemlock trunk is still solid for now but will eventually decay...
