I was going to suggest Bald Peak as well. For a day with a 1st time outdoor climber, you won't find a better concentration of accessible, quality, and easy climbs. It's worth a day there.
I'd suggest many people can manage to climb 5.7 on their first day. Some may work on it more than others... but that's the fun part right? Don't get too fixed on 5.0-5.5. If this is the same girl I met ice climbing this year, she'll do fine. If it's not... I guess I just put my keyboard into my mouth.
Thanks to you both! I think we'll go to both Joe's Garage and Bald Peak in the same day, possibly camp overnight. That way she can get the hang of it at Bald Peak on easy stuff, then I can drag her to CL and explore for my curiosity, and try and climb a few classics.
And yes, it is the same girl Chris
(and just so you know your keyboard-in-mouth comment made me spit Coke all over my computer out of laughter, lol)
