New Zealander looking for climbing partners ice/rock

Postby porthillsclimber » Tue Nov 13, 2007 6:48 pm

hi

I'm coming cover to New Brunswick from New Zealand in three weeks and will be spending December and January in New Brunswick. While I'm over there i'm keen to do some some climbing. I'll be based in Edmunston and will also be in Fredricton for some of the time. I anyone can help me out with this that would be great.

Rock climbing season will definitely be out.

Ice climbing season should be starting to get better around end of December. The closest ice climbing to Edmundston is Grand Falls 30 min drive. There is also some ice in nearby Quebec.

There are no indoor climbing gyms in Edmundston and the closest one would be Quebec City 2.5 hour drive or Fredericton 2.5 hour drive. There might be one in Riviere-du-Loup 1 hour drive.
I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.

Let us know when you arrive and I am sure there will be lots of volunteers to show you around. Hopefully you will have a car since you will have to travel a bit.

The ice season is looking good with snow on the ground, and minus temperatures at night already.
You are, therefore I am. That is the question....

hi

I'm am now in Edmunston and would be keen to check out grand falls or some of the climbing in Quebec if anyone is heading out that way. I know it still may be a little early but still just want to get out there.

we were out in Parlee Brook today and had thought of heading to Grand Falls tomorrow but it's a long drive if we can't guarantee ice. We will probably check out Grand Falls next weekend. Back to Parlee Brook tomorrow. Stay in touch.

cheers

thats a shame did not get your message until now. what were the conditions like.

It looks like I might be heading to Fredericton early next friday so if there is anyone around that area who is heading out it would be great to catch up.

We will likely be climbing next weekend in Parlee Brook so if you are in Fredericton we can give you a dive out and get you climbing.

The conditions in Grand Falls were quite good today.
