I went up to Turtle Mountain this past weekend. Beautiful rock and location. Main cliff is about 80' high. Put up a 5.6 hand crack, Scars and Stripes, and put in a couple of bolts to top rope from. If anyone is interested I have more photos. This would be a great spot for a weekend trip. By the way we drove to the top in a Jeep.

wow. That looks cool. How steep are the slabs?

I heard there was a granite dome on the south side of the river near pokiok. I assume this is a different one?

This one is near Eagle rock and the slabs are about 80 degrees. There is more rock to the right, with a short vertical wall around the corner. The rock is a bit like clifton.

Yes. It is a bit of a hike from there, but in that area. Can be done in a day, but would be better for a weekend trip or bike ride.

Hi Steve.

I was talking to Jon this weekend and he had mentioned you and PJ were up there.

How much ground clearance would you need to drive up there? Do you -need- a jeep? Would a toyota sienna (2007 model) work?

No way my 97 VW will make it, its only a couple inches off the ground with the new suspension

How long is the hike in?

You would definately need a good offroad vehicle no bigger than a jeep and at least 31" tires. The hike is 10 km from Robin Hood lake. Great potential for routes and just a pleasant place to visit.
