heard this rumour tonight..

"a recently fired employee of said esso, took some hostages with a shotgun
hostages were released, shots were fired, fire started.
and now, welsford no longer has an esso."

WTF?!?!

what will we do without burpees?!?! a legend in climbing tales and meeting places. And our beer store!!

I hope no one was hurt. :( What a sin on this christmas eve.

It is a true story. And the gunman died in the fire. Crazy.

Soooooo sad. :(

a loss on many levels... not the least of which was the convenience of a beer store open till 10 on a sunday.... we need to keep perspective here. ;)

and let the phoenix rise from the ashes...

Friend of mine was on his way home Christmas eve,he lives in the sub-division behind the Welsford Irving, just as he gets to the esso this guy runs accross the road in front of his car with a rifle in hand waving it around. He just missed him with the car and rather than stop and tell the guy off he continued on home(Rifle was the factor in keeping his mouth shut),little while later the guy is dead and the Esso is in flames......

owners

I hope Jeff and Lisa (owners as far as I know) had good insurrance and will rebuild. The place changed quite a little bit after Mrs. Burpee sold the place, but it was still the climber's place. Not many really wanted to go to the irving except to use their really nice bathrooms :)

It's a major loss for everyone, esp. the Welsford Community.

Too lazy to sign in, too lazy to use punctuation or capital letters, too lazy for real information - Why do you even bother?
