Bone Machine

Postby Fred » Sun Apr 02, 2006 11:12 am

I led Bone Machine yesterday. I know there had been much discussion about this route being scary and all so I wanted to add my two cents.

I found the bolts to be exactly where you would want them. They are a little runout in some sections but no danger in injury since the falls are clean. Bolting is sometimes a question of style. My take is, in this case it's well bolted with consideration on overbolting since the falls are clean and the cruxes well protected. I think the scary aspect is the fact that you are so high on a blank face climb. It's no worse then the top of "8 four 7" or "Joint Venture" where the bolts get further apart as you get off the deck.

Overall, it's a wicked route. One of my new Welsford favorites.
I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.

I took the liberty of replacing the old tat and straight bolt hangers for rap ring hangers. I hope this was ok Zig. There was no need to replace the studs. I simply replaced the hangers for Fixe rap hangers.
