Climbing Access to Cochrane Lane Cliffs
The following is the UNB Rock and Ice Clubs final arrangement with CFB Gagetown regarding use of the Cochrane Lane cliffs for UNB Rock and Ice Club members. The following will be a brief breakdown of public access and club member access.
General Public:
The general public must procure a day pass to enter any “Base” property, including the Cochrane Lane cliffs area for climbing purposes. This may be done in person, at Camp Petersville on the Enniskillen Road (located 10min. before Welsford coming from Fredericton towards Saint John). For more information call CFB Gagetown at 1-506-422-2000.
UNB Rock and Ice Members:
Any UNB Rock and Ice Member or “Group” under the auspicious of UNB Rock and Ice Club shall telephone 422-2000 ext (3121), prior to climbing. It is not required to stop and procure a day pass to the site. If you were a member prior to Sept 1, 2005 and have not renewed your membership forms and waivers since Sept 1, 2005, you need to do so before you are considered a member for 2005/2006. A membership is now offered only on a yearly basis and is the responsibility of the member to renew their membership on Sept 1 of each year.
As with any agreement, yearly renewal will be contingent upon stewardship of the land, and safe and proper use of the area, as well as the particular conditions of the arrangement (available to club members through the contact information below).
An information meeting was held for all UNB Rock and Ice members and general public Sept 22/05, 7pm discussing exact details of this arrangement. Further questions regarding this issue or the UNB Rock and Ice Climbing Club in general, may be directed to John Bowles, President UNB Rock and Ice Club 2005/2006 at climb@unb.ca.
