Cold Spring

For the first time since I've been climbing in NB, I don't think I will climb rock before April 1st.
And with the accumulation of all this snow, it will be a while before cliffs are dry.
Who else is itching to get out on rock?

Quite desperate as well... went out to scrub some boulders, found 3 inches of ice coating all of them At this rate it'll be late april?

No, not that long. Things can dry up quick with sun, wind and no precipitation + there's always good old Leviathan that always stays dry and Hampton Marsh that dries up incredibly fast.

I predict Sat. April 12th there will be at least 5 cars parked at Cochrane lane.

Early spring is an excellent time to walk across Loch Lomond while the lake is still frozen and play on the cliff there. It catches the afternoon sun so it's quite comfortable.

I have never climbed at McQuirk's... something which I intend to correct as soon as I can. Will this be an early-season candidate? Is there much land uphill of the crag to supply seepage water as snow melts? Does it dry quickly?

McQuirks faces east so I suspect it will be slow to dry out this spring given our current situation. There is a fair amount of land uphill that will have snow run off onto the face. I won't be heading that way until we get some serious drying conditions.

I was out at Sunnyside today. Still lots of snow - Bring snowshoes (We had some )

Routes that were dry:
Superstar
Dihelio
RA
Stairway Direct
Smells like Rain...
Santé Mentale

The rest of the routes were in the humid to waterfall range.

Yeah Dom, Itching hard. I was out hiking to CL and up to Gollums cave last Sunday. It was a great day out. Almost all the snow is gone in that area. Just little patches scatterd around. If anyone needs a partner in the Welsford area, let me know. I live down the road from CL.
