Eastern Mountaineering Club

Postby STeveA » Fri Apr 20, 2012 1:40 pm

I found this old newsletter 1990. The club was formed when it looked like the Canadian Government was going to regulate the sport of climbing. The drive to regulate was being driven by Ontario and supported by the Alpine Club. Luckily the issue finally went away. However, we did have a logo, a lobster with climbing shoes and a chalk bag, and a few formal meetings.

The above link does not work, but go to http://www.steveadamson.com and click on the Eastern Mountaineering Newsletter to view the PDF.

While we never had to use the club, it was nice to be ready. It was also good to have an Eastern canada group since our interests locally are very different from the Western groups local interests. Plus the more T-shirts the better.
