Routes?

Hey everyone.

I will be in NB (Saint John area) for a few weeks this month and was just wondering where some good climbing areas are? Also, anyone know if there are any areas on the river that could be free climbed over the water?

I read about some of the stuff in Welsford, just wondering if there are any mort sport areas? Not looking for trad, just bolted sport stuff.

Hey you should pick up a copy of a climber's guide to NB sold at Radical Edge in Fredericton.

There is sport climbing in Sunnyside in Welsford. The topo for the routes can be found in the climber's guide to NB. Some new routes have gone up and can be found in the new route thread on this forum.

There is sport climbing at Cedar Point in Millidgeville. Cory's outdated topo can be found here [url]www.beta-source.com/guidebooks/cedarpoint/cedar_point.pdf

Greenlaw offers the most scenic climbing in NB with an awesome view of the St-Croix river and the Bay of Fundy. Info can be found in the climber's guide to Nb.

Finally, Cochrane Lane in Welsford is mostly trad but there are a good number of sport routes in the 5.11 range. Some are easier, especially at Upper tier. Also, it's easy to set-up TR's for a good number of routes. Info can be found in the climber's guide to NB...

Is there an up to date topo online for Cloud Bald Bear?

There's no topo for Bald Hill, no. However there's a guide for it in the new routes thread. Pretty detailed.

Jokes aside, I haven't been there this year. Does it dry quick after a good rain? I remember it being southern facing with not many cracks so thought it would...

It's hard to say. It dries super fast after a rain, but the moss above can cause some seepage. Odds are at least half of the lines will be dry at any given time
