Cape Spencer June 15 & 16

Postby cory » Fri Jun 01, 2007 1:02 pm

The third not-quite-annual Warm-up Weekend will be held this year on June 15th and 16th, just outside SJ at Cape Spencer.

Plan on arriving Friday and climbing until dark. After food and drink and fire and sleep (no particular order here) we get up on Saturday to do it all again.

Though it's a bouldering area, there's plenty of fun things for the rest of you chowders to do, such as:

-counting porpoises
-swimming (poaching lobsters from the traps)
-playing drinking games like "where's the seal going to surface next?"
-mocking the pebble wrestlers (please no throwing of undergarments)

I'll even tie in this year if anyone wants to join me in bagging the FA of 'Crack House' a very sharp diagonal fist crack that's sure to leave a few scars.

Cory

PS I'm trying to get a BBQ or two, so it may become a BYOM --details to follow.

Mathieu, je l'ai vu en moulinette, piolets au mitaines, un sourire fendu jusqu'aux oreilles plusieurs fois au Icefest!! Faut croire que il devient plus en plus "attaché" à la corde! (Cory is a closet climber) Better "latent " than never eh Cory

It's not that sharp. We were out there this weekend and I can honestly say my hands weren't nearly as sore as climbing at Dover, LOC or Bridgetown.
I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.

hahah sounds good to me , ya i figured that cause i`ve been down there before (not climbing) and the rock is pretty sketchy in some places , but i could see now that i think of it how there would be some good lines.

cheers

what a bunch of pansies!!

Cape Spencer has a few sharp holds...but nothing as sharp for example as the start holds to Montezumas, or anything on Dover or in Clifton.

What is everyone crying about? Anyways.... it is something to do during bug season. No less. No more.

Cheers.

I don't think anyone is crying... why are you so defensive Martha?

I'm having trouble arranging a BBQ, does anyone have one that's transported easily enough?

check that... I've got a BBQ so bring your meat!

I've also got some wood for a (small) fire if it remains damp enough.

The tides will be low in the evenings and mornings.

There will be no fog.

There should not be any rain.

I plan on arriving late afternoon (Friday).

I recommend waiting until people are back up before you pitch your tent cause there will likely be tourists and alcohol fueled hicks stopping by.
