I regret to inform you...

I'm sorry to say this but it looks like there is a chance the King's Landing roadside ice may get demolished for the new highway. The new right of way is definitely going through there but I duno if the cliff will remain as a buffer between the East-bound and West-bound lanes. Regardless, if there is only a small plateau at the top, it won't likely be sufficient to collect enough water to feed the massive ice flows that we are used to. This is a tragic moment in NB climbing history. What are we to do?
I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.

what f&$*ing engineers decided that THIS was a good idea? Honestly, is there nothing they won't do?

First tunnels (death traps) under the Saint Laurent River and now this?

Sweet, less ice climbing; We could celebrate!

death of a NB test piece

Postby mathieu » Mon Nov 08, 2004 3:08 am

This is a sad day indeed. We should mourn the passing of a solid NB ice test piece. At 5 metres tall and a solid grade 2 (maybe 1+ on fat years), this climb has seen more than a few seasoned veterans get their ass spanked on these fabolous flows.

Here is a picture of said climbs in decent shape.

The last time I went road-side ice climbing on the (then) new highway, we got shut down by a passing maintenance crew who informed us that we were trespassing. :(

Too bad about Tweedle Dum & Tweedle Dee (I think that's what they were called), they were fun to solo.
