Gear on top of 5.8/Salt & Pepper

To whom ever top roped/rappeled off of the SINGLE girth hitched sling high in the tree and SINGLE locking biner, I brought it down and put it in the sign in box. Yellow tape. Might be a good idea to read a book on anchors.

Seems better to rappel of a sling and biner than to rap the rope around the tree and scar the tree. But I agree with Shawn, read an anchor book because there is better ways to sling a tree than a girth hitch sling. Seems to lack in the Redundant department.

even I know better than that... Let's hope there were other pieces and they happened to forget that piece when they walked off.

hey folks -

Mystery solved - the sling and 'biner are mine - it was a back-up to my anchor, and my climbing partner forgot to take it when she took down the rest of the anchor, before rapping off of the tree. (Unfortunately, I didn't realize she had left part of the anchor behind.)
