Now that the site is under new management I'd like to propose a few suggestions. If this site is to continue to be relevant when it's up against Facebook it needs to offer us the ability to have control over our posts. I'd like to be able to:

1) Edit my own posts
2) Use grown-up language without auto-censoring

I understood Fred's reason to impose rule, however, that was a different time. There has been more than 5 years of civil discussion. Even the rare hot topic is still civil. Gone are the days of anonymous accounts, flame wars, and general bitchery.

Just something for the new management to consider. Thanks for keeping this site running Sam.

I agree Chris - everyone should be able to edit or delete their own posts
and be able to speak freely!


MODs could still monitor if things got out of hand - but tbh - we're mostly adults here

All easily doable, I'm in the process of (whenever I find time.... frig work) redoing the look and feel of the site. When I have that pushed live I can make the edits and deletes possible as well.

Censor should now be off. You may need to uncheck a box to see peoples potty mouths. I can put sailors to shame, but it not my site and I'll moderate as Sam sees fit.

You have 10 min to edit posts.

You have 5 min to delete a post.

Sam, if you want to ratchet it up or down let me know. (PM me) It took me more time to figure out where to go than to change it. All said it was less than 5 min.

Seems as if there is still some censoring... and I don't know if your changes took. I still see no edit or delete option. Perhaps they are just hard to find?

I can also see your potty mouth words when I go into edit mode on your post. Something else must need to be switched.

Also...

Just want to say thanks to the mods for not locking the recent thread on trail day at Welsford. I expect the same discussion would have been nixed a few years ago. There was a very low threshold for debate in the past... and I think that's the value of this forum.
