Welsford Rendezvous

Postby Greg » Mon Sep 12, 2016 6:40 pm

Hey folks Ascent New Brunswick is hosting the first ever Welsford Rendezvous this September 24 at Cochrane Lane in Welsford. The purpose of the event is to gather our community of climbers from both the past and present to hang out, socialize and partake in the day’s events. We are planning to have climbing challenges, games, rescue team demo, a barbeque, the Ascent New Brunswick AGM and an awards presentation. At 3pm Cara Hazelton, owner of Fredericton's Precision Pilates studio will be giving a free Pilates class for anyone interested. The rendezvous gathering will take place in the farmer’s field and gravel pit at Cochrane Lane.

Here is info on the Climbing Challenges:

Welsford Crags Challenge – climb one route at three different crags in Welsford (CL, Mount Douglas, Eagle Rock, Bald Peak or Sunnyside). You pick the crags and you pick the routes. You must be human powered between crags by walking, running, cycling or paddling. No motorized vehicles or donkey riding :)Rules

Cochrane Lane Challenge – climb 13 selected routes from the original Colin Bell guide book. The 13 routes are Ride a Cock Horse, Kit Kat, Gollums Cave/Reindeer Land, Ejaculator, Jean, Cheekbone Corner, Snot, Sinus, Waterfall Layback, Pink Panther, Light Fandango, The Boulevard and Some Enchanted Evening.

Rules: All competitors must be a current member of Ascent New Brunswick. Both comps are for teams of two or three climbers using a climbing rope and sport or traditional climbing gear. No soloing. Start and finish line for both events is the gate of the farmers field at Cochrane Lane. For both comps the first team to complete the challenge in the allotted time will be declared the winner.

To register for either challenge and the Pilates class email ascentnb@gmail.com or RSVP on the Ascent New Brunswick facebook page.
